Salt water lakes within the Thar Desertinclude the Sambhar, Kuchaman, Didwana in Rajasthan and Kharaghoda in Gujarat. These lakes receive and collect rain water during monsoon and evaporate during the dry season. The salt is derived by the weathering of rocks in the region

Hello friend ,
Rajasthan is a desert because :
--it contains sandy soil (10 %) & rest of area includes rock formations, salt lake bottoms and fixed dune areas.
--it has lack of water abundance
--it has volatile climate with very high temperature..sometimes exceeding to 50 deg. celcius or more.
--presence of salt-lake bottoms
--the Tropic of Cancer is the circle marking the latitude 23.5° north, where the sun is directly overhead on June 21 (beginning of summer)
Hope this helps !! thankyou & goodluck!! :)
