Rajasthan gets scanty rainfall because the state lies in the rain shadow region of the Aravali Range. The Aravali Range lie parallel to the Arabian Sea branch of South West Monsoon and do not offer any obstruction to the rain bearing winds.

Rajasthan receive a very less rainfall because of its geographical location.
- By the time it reaches the northwest region of India, where Rajasthan is located, the Bay of Bengal branch of the Indian monsoon has lost all of its moisture.
- The monsoon's Arabian Sea branch, which runs parallel to the Aravalli Mountains and reaches northern India, does not provide rain in Rajasthan.
- The low rainfall in Rajasthan is caused by a variety of factors. First, because the Aravalli range runs parallel to it, the Arabian Sea Branch of the South West Monsoon, which brings rain to Western and South-Western India, rarely brings rain because the winds are not diverted.
- No obstruction blocks the winds from causing the required uplift to cool them.
Hence, Rajasthan receives very less rainfall.
