Why rare gases is also called inert gases

Because these are usually non reactive gases and are found in free state. For example- neon, etc

Rare gases are also called inert gases because they are incapable of reacting and cannot form compounds.

Some of the inert gases are Helium , Neon , Argon , Krypton , Xenon and Radon.

There outermost shell is complete and hence they cannot share or lose and gain their electron.

They are also called Noble gases.

They are placed in the last group of Modern Periodic Table.
