I feel the answer is this but I'm not sure

If an onion peel is kept in an hypotonic solution, water will enter into the cells of the onion peel through osmosis as the medium of water outside the cell is more,it enters the cell through osmosis .
In this case the cell is likely to swell up and the same thing happens with RBC.

When kept in hypotonic solution the RBCs burst easily because they are animal cells and do not possess cell wall, while the RBC burst when kept in onion peel possess cell wall which makes it resistant to the bursting due to swelling caused by endosmosis.

The onion cell is a plant cell that can be obtained by peeling off an onion.

Hope it helps... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
