RBC are enucleated. this is because their function is only to carry oxygen to the required site. if they had any other function, having nucleus would have been necessary. since they have only one function and to carry enormous amount oxygen as much as possible at a time, they provide more space for it by not having any nucleus.

After synthesis, it undergoes a process called enucleation in which the nucleus is removed. The absence of a nucleus allows the red blood cells to contain more hemoglobin and hence all their internal space is available for oxygen transport in order to the body tissues.
