The tendency to gain electrons increases on moving across a period due to an increase in the nuclear charge and decrease in the atomic size. Hence, the non-metallic character increases across a period.

Answer:

On going from left to right( across a period) of a periodic table, there is an increase in the tendency of accepting electrons. The atomic size decreases with a further increase in nuclear charge.

In such instances, the reducing nature of elements increases as the non-metallic nature and electronegativity also increases.

Reducing nature refers to an ability to reduce other substances ( that lose electrons) and itself becomes oxidised.
