Respiration is an exothermic process because in respiration Carbon dioxide present in food breaks down to form glucose. This glucose combines with Oxygen in the cells of our body and releases high amount of energy.
The reaction involves :
C6H12O6 + 6O2 →6CO2 + 6H2O + Energy
Here, C6H12O6 = Glucose, O2 = Oxygen gas, CO2 = Carbon dioxide and H2O = Water.
The reaction involves :
C6H12O6 + 6O2 →6CO2 + 6H2O + Energy
Here, C6H12O6 = Glucose, O2 = Oxygen gas, CO2 = Carbon dioxide and H2O = Water.
