because mouth does not have hair cells (which are in nasal vestibule)
so breathing from mouth cannot prevent dust particles entering in mouth.

oviyaezhilvanan: do u mean cilia?
abhisheksoni1997: cilia and nasal hairs are different . nasal hairs can be seen and cilia cannot be easily seen. but both prevent entry of dust.
oviyaezhilvanan: what are hair cells?
abhisheksoni1997: cells present in vestibule of nose which give rise to hair follicle.
abhisheksoni1997: cilia are microscopic
oviyaezhilvanan: thank you for ur answer

As respiration through nose results in dust particles sticking through the hair in our nostrils and mucus, thus, keeping our lungs safe...But while respiring through mouth, the dust is not trapped anywhere, thus the dust goes to our lungs or gets stuck in our larynx...Thus harming us...
