Why river godavari is often referred as dakshin ganga. class 11?

because its vast area, great length and the cultural heritage, the Godavari can rightly be compared with the Ganga of the north India...

River Godavari flows from the east coast at Andhra Pradesh and flows through out south India. It is indeed a large river; hence the name Dakshin Ganga, meaning the river of the south. It is the southern equivalent to the actual ganges....
