viruses tend not to have sophiscated mechanisms of repairing their genetic material, like most DNA organisms do: ... Because their life cycle is so short and they reproduce incredibly fast, it really doesn't matter if your mutation rate is higher than DNA organisms.

⏹️RNA viruses mutate faster than other DNAviruses because the enzyme RNA dependentRNA polymerase that synthesizes RNA doesnot have the activity of proof reading while DNA polymerase has this activity. Because of this absence of proof reading, wrong basesare inserted without correction and hencemutation is faster.
