Explanation:

The air near the ground becomes hot as we go upwards the temperature decreases, this affects the refractive index, the refractive index decreases towards the ground thus light from distant objects travels downwards and is retracted away and away, at certain interface there's total internal reflection, This causes the mirage ☺
