why rock break in a winter

Rock breaks in winters because the water present in the rocks freezes at a very low temperature this results in increase in the volume of the rock, due to the inability of the rock to hold such a large volume it gets contracted since all minerals present in the rock do not contract at an equal rate there are cracks .......Due to widening of these cracks the rocks break.....
