Russia never lost the cold war. Only Gorbachev's reforms and some internal troubles led the disintegration of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic. After the civil war USSR was so powerful from 1922 to 1991.

Internal corruption made the people to rise against government. The people were leading a very ordinary life but government employees were enjoying in luxurious way of life like driving German cars etc., Russian language was not known to all citizens of USSR. Former US president Ronald Reagan said,’ USSR an evil empire'. He exerted more pressure to make USSR weak. Economically he made to suffer USSR beyond the limit. After 1985 Gorbachev by thoroughly analysing everything he planned to reform the country.

Gorbachev gave independence to fifteen countries and ordered to return the military wherever stationed in the world. So the military which was stationed in Afghanistan was also returned to USSR. But the world said blindly that USSR was defeated in Afghanistan. Russia allowed to integrate both West and East Germany and at last Berlin wall was demolished. It's only a myth. No country van defeat Russia.

Despite the disintegration of USSR still Russia dominates the world. Still in military muscle power Russia is in the first place. China won't frighten to any country but to Russia. It's a well-known fact.

So in this cold war conflict no one is the winner.
