Heya!
A really good question to answer currently!
Love? What indeed is love? Is it 4 - letter word? No.
Is it means to say I love you to someone? No.
Then what is love? And why the symbol of heart represents love?
First I'll answer what is love?
Love isn't just a 4 letter word to say. It's a great feeling that we experience once in our life at least. Well, either it be teenagers love or it be love shared between husband and wife. Some have it earlier before marriage while some other can have it later.
Love isn't about saying "I love you" to someone. It's about to feel between each other.
We talks about crush , love ! When you are in love you forget yourself ! You do things for the other one and don't let him/her realize about it! When we do this without expecting anything in return is called as true love.
When you have respect for the other , when you understands each other, When you trust each other , when you had no words to tell about others that means you are in true love <3
Now to answer why symbol Heart?
The thing is no one is yet sure about it's thoery.
1) The leading theory says that generations back the symbol of heart was traced out. In around 7 century B.C it was silphium plant which was actually used as a way of birth control other than these that we use as a way of Contraception.
This silphium plant was in the shape of heart. And this plant was so special that local people used to mint it on coins etc.
2) But we can say that this is not the only plant that shapes as a Heart , so some argues that it can possibly the shape of a leaf?
Infact people at that time uses to give it each other and to God as the symbol of love.
3) Ancient Egyptians, for example, believed that the heart epitomised life and morality.
Similarly many theories came into existence for the shape of heart
4) Now finally the time came when medical professionals understand the functions and the diagram of human heart <3
When you a give a heart emoji to someone that means you are want to get committed to him/her. And hence the evolution of heart gave chance to people to express their feelings for each other.

Down here⏬
> WHAT IS LOVE?
>> Love is a feeling of affection towards a person. It often doesnt have any reasons to love. Just, we feel an effection. Love is a selfless feeling. If we love a person without expecting anything, we can Say it's true feeling of love, real love. Love is a madness, which rise from the HEART, not from the Brain. Love is like rose, it is beautiful, but if we do not handle it carefully, it will turn into thrones of tears.
>> Love is nothing about any thing which can see or hear, it's all about feelings. Love can't be a lust, nor be a admiration. that is, It can be compared with anything/ anybody else.
>> True definition of love can't be given by singles like me ;p, it can be given by those who feel it.
> Returning to the question, why love is Represented by the heart ?
>> The reason dates backs to 6th century BCE, the heart shape (♡) was used to represent a heart shaped fruit, Silphuim. It is a plant of parsley species. Silver coins from Creyene have this design, sometimes attached by a siphiluim plant and is understood to represent its seed or fruit.
>> The heart shape developed its meaning at the end of the Middle Ages. But, this shape was used earlier in many ancient texts and monuments.
>> The familiar symbol of the heart representing love devoloped in 15th century, the heart shape was not associated with meaning of love.
>> The geometric shape (uff, maths here also) from its earlier sources, does not represent the heart, but typically a foliage.
>> The first representation of heart for love dates back to 1250s. In a French manuscript, Roman de la poire, a kneeling lover offers his heart to damsel. The heart here resembles a pine cone. This is accordance with the medieval anatomical descriptions.
>> However, in miniature, the heart shape is only the result of a lover's finger superimposed on an object, the full shape outline of the object is partly hidden, and so, unknown.
>> French title of the manuscript that features miniature translates into 'Novel of Pear' in English. The heart shaped object should be a pear.
>> The reasons differ from each other if we look into each of them.
Hope it helps.
Don't forgot to read it fully. ;p
