Flowing water has a higher pressure only when it is falling from great height. To induce pressure in normal standing water you need to heat it and that turns water into steam that has more energy than water. As water is boiled in an enclosed vessel, the steam gains much pressure that is utilised to run turbines.

Understanding the Concept Behind :
- Salient pole rotors have large diameter and shorter axial length. They are generally used in lower speed electrical machines, say 100 RPM to 1500 RPM
