There were prominent activists who were leading in Maharashtra Samyuktha Samiti; they were Shreedhar Madhav Joshi, Shripad Amrit Dange and Narayan Ganesh Gore. The impact of the movement was so remarkable that the ruling party and the political leaders were helpless. The movement occupied common man with the massive involvement by women.
The Samyukta Maharashtra Samiti achieved its goal after a great struggle on 1 May 1960, when the State of Bombay had been divided into Marathi-speaking State of Maharashtra and the Gujarati-speaking State of Gujarat.
