in schottky effect equal no. of cataion and anion are missing from interstial lattis sites and these missing cataion and anion are responsible for lower tge denstity of solids.

Hey !!
In Schottky defect as the number of ions are missing from their normal lattice sites, the mass decreases wheareas, the volume remains the same. Due to this the density decreases.
