As the metals come into contact with air, the oxygen present in it, they began to react with it and a layer of metal’s oxide is deposited on its surface. This phenomenon is known as corrosion. Due to this, metal’s surface no longer stays in its pure form and therefore metals lose their shine and thus appear dull.
