second ionization enthalpy is greater than first ionization enthalpy because as we remove an outermost the nucleus will grab its outermost electron with a greater force and the size becomes small therefore we require more energy to remove that electron

After losing one electron the size of the atom will shrink due to the greater nuclear charge over the net charge of electrons. ... Second ionisation energy is more or greater than first ionisation energy because first ionisation energy is the energy reqiured for removing first eletron from outer shell.
