Sedimentary rocks are formed by accumulation and hardening of sediments such as mud, sand, silt and disintegrated rocks over a period of time which are arranged in layers.

Answer:

The sedimentary rocks are called stratified rocks because it is found in layers.

Explanation:

Sedimentary rocks are formed by deposition of sediments. After millions of years when these sediments are under an "extremely high pressure and temperature" they solidify to form sedimentary rocks. When these rock pieces are cut, the layers or strata are visible and hence it is called stratified rocks. Sedimentary rock is created by accumulation or "deposition of small particles"
