A series arrangement is not preferred over parallel arrangement for many reasons one being if one of the appliance stops working the others are not affected... whereas in series it will affect the rest of the components. A parallel circuit divides the current through the electrical gadgets. This is useful if the gadgets has different resistance and requires different current to operate properly.
