Why sharp edges or pointed are strickely avoided in electrical machine

because in sharp and pointed edges there is more possibility of leakage of charges.....this
property is know as Corona discharge

SinghSandesh: why can more charge be placed on metal if it is highly polished then when it's surface is rubbed

nagameenakshimg: actually the thing is rough surfaces may have some very small sharp pointed points from which there may be leakage of charges but whereas in case of polished surface no such sharp points are possible
