Why ship are not shrink in water​

The air that is inside a ship is much less dense than water. That's what keeps it floating! The average density of the total volume of the ship and everything inside of it (including the air) must be less than the same volume of water.

  • It is because a ship is hollow from inside and filled with air. So, the density of the ship is lesser than water. Therefore,the immersed portion of the ship displaces water equal to its weight, so the ship floats.
