Why shoukd 8 be subtracted from the left most digit if it is gretaer than 8 in multicast ethernet

hexadecimal subtracting 8 from the leftmost digit if it is greater than or equal ... Ethernet multicast physical address. .... RPB does not multicast the packet, it broadcasts it.
