Hey there ,
A reaction which has an equal no. of atoms of all tge elements on both sides of the chemical equation is called a balanced chemical equation.
The law of conservation of mass states that mass can neither be created nor he destroyed.Hence, in a chemical reaction, the total mass of reactants should be equal to the total mass of the products. It means that the total no. of atoms of each element should be qual on both sides of the chemical equation.Hence, it is for this reason that chemical equations should be balanced .

The equation in which atoms of various elements on both sides of a chemical equation are equal in accordance with law of conservation of mass is called balanced chemical equation.
It means the total mass of the element present in the products of the chemical reaction has to be equal to the total mass of the element presents in reactant.
In others words the numbers of atoms of each element remains the same before and after a chemical reaction. Hence we need to balance a chemical equation.
