Appropriate distance should be maintained b/w seeds bcs of the following reasons :-

1. If they are placed too apart there would be lack of space .

2. If they would be placed too close they would not be able to respire easily , take right amount of sunlight for photosynthesis and they will not be able to replenish nutrients from soil which comes as a negative point for a crop's / plant's / tree's growth and the roots will be struggling for space and extraction of water.

So , they should be kept at an appropriate distance .

Simrankaur89: Yes .. we may write that leguminous plant's, fungi and bacterias extravagant growth will occur and would use all the nutrients needed by the crop. Insects will also gear up to an extent in that lacking space .
