Why should biodegradable and nonbiodegradable wastes be discarded in to two separate dustbin?

Separation of biodegradable and non biodegradable wastes in two separate dustbins is the step to efficient waste management. Biodegradable wastes gets decomposed by the microorganisms like bacteria. Whereas the other waste should be disposed wisely so that it doesn't harm the environment. So they recycle and reuse it.
