Curd and other sour foodstuffs contains acid which react with copper metal to form poismous salts , which may cause food poisoning . Hence it is not advisable to keep curd and sour foodstuffs in brass or copper vessels.

Curd and sour substances should not be kept in brass and copper utensils because the acid present in sour substances react with the metal containers to form salt and hydrogen gas.
