Fossil fuels must not be wasted because they are generated using natural processes from the fossil remains of dead plants. Because they are produced naturally, there will be no or minimal damage to the atmosphere.
Another reason to use fossil fuels with caution is the long duration of millions of years they take to form. In other words, they take a much longer time to form than to get depleted from viable reserves. So, if not used carefully, there will be no backup available. This is why they are considered to be non-renewable resources.

Fossil fuels are the the part of natural resources but excess use of these resources are causing environmental problems like production of carbon dioxide .So these must be used carefully and try not to waste it.
Moreover being the non renewable source of fuels their concentration is depleting on earth as resource because of excessive use so in order to keep them use in near future care must be taken to save them and try not to do their waste.
