If gametes does not produce by meiosis then there will be large scale abnormalities. ex. if gamete does not divide by meiosis. then the gamete will become haploid, then resulting offspring will have 46+46=92 ,such a new number causes severe abnormalities. chromosome number will not maintained at constancy.
