So that due to presence of moisture microbes can grow and due to attack of pests, grains become spoilt so that it is necessary to dry grains before storage.

1) presence of moisture may be favourable for the growth microorganisms.
2) presence of moisture and favourable temperature enhance the germination of stored seeds
