Why should not we use water to put out fire caused by oil?

We shouldn't use water to put out fire caused by oil because it will just enrage the fire. Oil is less dense than water so it will float. Water won't affect the fire and at the places where the water flows, the fire will increase.

You may use soil/sand/fire extinguisher to put this fire put.

This is because the oil is lighter than water thus when the fire soaks into the oil and when you pour the water the oil just rises to the above the water and the fire still continues .to stop a fire caused by oil be put soil or sand as it soaks up the oil and prevents more damage due to fire
