the foundation of buildings are made broad so that it may not sink under the extreme high pressure of building as pressure is inversely proportional to area

Because the area covered by the broad pillars would be more And hence the pressure applied by the building over a unit area would be reduced considerably thereby reducing the dangers of collpasing
