The right to information act 2005 is an act of the parliament of India aimed at providing the right to information to the people of India. Based on the values of transparency, accountability and empowerment, the act is also beneficial to the people's representatives, since openness and transparency in decision - making also helps in reposing the truth of the people in the government.
