why should water not be used to put off fire caused by petrol?

As water is hevier than petrol there fore slipdowns permitting the petrol to rise to the surface ...and continue to burn. besides the existing temperature is so high that the water poured on the fire evaporates even before it can extinguisher the fire ..... thus the petrol fire cannot extinguished by water ........ .

Water should not be used to putoff fire when burning of petrol because water contains oxygen and oxygen will make the fire more and more continous and brighter and it will be difficult to putoff the fire.
