WHAT IS BIODIVERSITY?
Bio + Diversity = Biodiversity where bio means life and diversity means variety (varities of plants, animals and other organisms that live/present on earth).
WHY DO WE NEED TO CONSERVE THEM?
Their are lots of varities of plants and animals are present on our earth. And the reason for their conservation is that many of them are extinct. In short to prevent them from extinction.
WHAT CAUSES THE EXTINCTION OF PLANTS AND ANIMALS?
Human cut tress for agriculture purpose which cause the loss of habitat of animals and cutting of tress & plants leads to decrease in number of plants species and leads to extinction. Other human activities like hunting, pollution and fishing; in addition to it climatic changes also causes the extinction of plants and animals.
WAYS TO CONSERVE THEM?
• In-situ conservation: wildlife sanctuaries, national parks, biosphere reserves.
• Ex-situ conservation: zoos, botanical gardens, seed banks etc.
- Corbett National park is the first national park of India.
- Senchal wildlife sanctuary is the first wildlife sanctuary.
- Marine national park is the first marine national park of India (Gujarat).
