As you see, potable water or fresh water is limited in world. We have very less percentage of potable or fresh water present. Next, it minimizes the effects of drought and water shortages. By reducing the amount of water we use, we can better protect against future drought years. It guards against rising costs and political conflict.Water scarcity is the result of following factors:

          i.  Over exploitation of water due to excessive irrigation

         ii. Growing population, Industrialisation and Urbanisation

         iii.  Unequal distribution of  water among different social groups. The poor in the rural areas blame the state machinery of diverting water in urban areas and benefiting the rich.. Water scarcity is also impacted by the amount of precipitation which varies from area to area.
