why should we keep butter in fridge

Butter is kept in the fridge to maintain its solid state. If it were kept in the open in paper and cardboard packages it would melt in the heat and seep out of the package.

Butter is easier to store as a solid than liquid. So it is kept in the fridge to keep it hard in order to store it easily.
