hello mate !

Cassettes and computer "floppy" disks use magnetic fields to store the information. Storing a cassettes (or reel-to-reel) or floppy disk next to them will erase them. Note that magnetized scissors, and that little magnet at the top of a paper clip holder will ALSO erase them!

Television, ESPECIALLY color television, uses magnetic fields to control the picture. Storing a magnet next to a television can cause the picture to look bad -- but the damage is usually not permanent.

Radios and stereos are NOT affected by magnets, although a magnet MIGHT cause a stereo TUNER to miss it's stations.

Compact Disks (CDs) and Digital Video Disks (DVD) are NOT affected by magnets. Both of these use LIGHT, not magnetism, to store data, and they are completely safe from magnetic fields.
