Ganga waters are used for drinking. It is used for different holy rituals. The painted colors may content water contaminating products.
If idols are immersed in Ganga at a random rate, there is high risk of getting the water polluted.
Moreover the soil of these idols will be deposited as Ganga basis and will decrease its depth.
Therefore it is not wise to immerse painted idols of gods in the River Ganga.
