Why should we preserve coal and petroleum?

we should preserve coal and petroleum because they are non-renewable resources means the natural resources that are exahaustible or can be used only once and cannot be replaced within a reasonable period of time.. if coal and petroleum will over ,if they were not be preseved they will get over one day....
