Why should we study the beginning and growth of sociology in europe and in india?
Answers
The emergence of ‘sociology’ is not more than 200 years, hence the discipline is still growing and expanding its branches. There is some reason behind the emergence of each and every discipline, the need for sociology as a separate subject was declared by the father of sociology “Auguste Comte”, in late of 19th century. He believed the study of social phenomena should employ scientific techniques.
Sociology is the science which study society; and Europe was not in its status quo state, the conflict atmosphere after French Revolution, Renaissance and Industrial Revolution was increasing day by day. Comte felt the indeed requirement of a discipline which could explain and resolve the nature of the society and introduced sociology, although the body and structure was given by later thinker, like Herbert Spencer, Emile Durkheim, Karl Marx but he will be remained as the father of Sociology.
That is why, before entering directly into the subject, one should thoroughly understand the chaos and aftermath of French Revolution, Industrial Revolution, the growth of Europe where sociology was born.
