if we use plaster of paris (calcium hemihydride) it will affect the water bodies if we immerse the idols in water. Each year govt spends rs 500 cr to restore the river and ghats which is affected by the idols which is made up of above mentioned material it also poses great threat to the aquatic plants and animals so use of clay while making idols is recommended further we can add many colours while decorating the idols
