why should we use ISO in isopropylidene dichloride as there is no methyl group attached to second carbon atom of parent chain​

  1. WHEN U ROTATE THE STRUCTURE @ 90 DEGREES.

The line attached with chlorine becomes horizontal and imagine it as a principle chain grp.

now 2 methyl groups are attached with the second carbon of the main chain.

Hence , we use ISO ptrefix in nomenclature.
