Because most of resources are scarce goods. As so, in order to prevent future lacks, we have to use our finite resources wisely, so our children can use...... because most of resources are scarce goods. 
As so, in order to prevent future lacks, we have to use our finite resources wisely, so our children can use it too. 

One good example is potable water. Imagine this probable scenario: within a few years, rivers will be so polluted, that there will not be enough water in the planet so satisfy our demand.
