Why should you never look directly at the sun? i don't understand this question can someone explain how to do please

Looking steadily at the sun for any prolonged period can cause damage to the retina. This is the collection of light-sensitive cells located at the back of the eye which transmit images to your brain. With enough damage to the retina, staring at the sun can leave you partially blind.

so it is always better to use solar glasses.
