There are four types of Units :

  1. MKS
  2. CGS
  3. FPS
  4. SI
  • MKS is a system of unit that based on metre, kilogram and second or m, kg, and sec which belongs to length , mass and time respectively.
  • CGS is a system of unit in which centimetres (cm) , gram (g) and second (sec) which is length ,mass and time respectively.
  • FPS is a system of unit in which foot, pound and second which is length , mass and time respectively.
  • SI is a standard international unit .

Now ,

The MKS unit is known as SI unit but MKS unit is conserved by length , mass and time . SI has not three metric units rather it has 7 types of Units which is fixed .So SI is a extended form of MKS or metric system.

  1. Length - Metre
  2. Mass- kilogram
  3. Time- second
  4. Luminous intensity- candela
  5. Temperature- kelvin
  6. current - Ampere
  7. Amount of substance - Mole
