Some types are very expensive indeed whilst others are no more expensive than cotton. Silk, on the other hand, is universally much more expensive mainly because of its difficulty in the production of the actual silk yarn

- Silk is very expensive because its production is very labourious and land intensive.It is made up of protien fibres ehich are triangular and so reflect like prisms.
