AgCl(Silver chloride) decomposes by the action of sunlight to chlorine gas and silver. This silver formed is microscopic and turns blackish-grey in colour.Hence, we loose the use of silver chloride.
If preserved in dark bottles, in reduces or negates exposure to the sun which prevents such decomposition.
PS YOUR QUESTION IS WRONG, IT IS STORED IN DARK BOTTLES:)
