why sky is blue in colour and red in evening?

In the day time it is blue because the molecules in the air disperse blue light from the sun while in the evening they disperse red light

arjun009: the position of sun is the varying factor.. at sunset sun is at the farthest point therefore light has to travel longer distance.. therefore all colours are scattered away and only red light is visible.. at day time sun is at a lower distance.. and the wavelength of blue light is comparable to scattering of air molecule.. therefore the sky is blue
